5 Alternative Christmas movies

There are some people who can watch It's a Wonderful Life over and over. They don't mind the endless retelling in TV movies. They get warm fuzzies whenever they hear a bell ring. Miracle on 34th Street has them believing every guy in a red hat wants to give them presents. So what do you do if you're not one of those people? Check out our list of 5 Alternative Christmas Movies.

It's really easy to get Christmas fatigue. Stores start putting out decorations the day before Halloween. There are easily 40 different versions of Santa Baby out there. You have to endure endless commercials with store owners and newscasters in their very best Rudolph sweaters standing in front of a fireplace spouting something like, "Best wishes for a very happy and safe holiday from your family at -insert cheesy group here."

The Nightmare Before Christmas

But what if your favorite Christmas character is the Heat Miser? What if you're more likely to have a flying monkey as a tree topper than an angel? Here is a list of alternatives to the traditional Christmas film. And merry happy everyone!

5 Alternative Christmas movies

Scrooged:Bill Murray plays a bitter TV executive named Frank who just doesn't get the ooey gooey love fest that happens around the holidays. Three ghosts help him figure it all out. And hey, who wouldn't learn about love after being punched repeatedly in the face by Carol Kane in a fairy costume? Hey, it's got Bobcat Goldthwait, a musical number and some excellently quotable lines. "Don't vex me, Frank!"

The Nightmare Before Christmas: Sure, we know The Nightmare Before Christmas is traditionally watched at Halloween, but isn't it better to hear a choral version of Making Christmas than We Three Kings? Little kids kidnapping "Sandy Claws," lines like, "There's children throwing snowballs/instead of throwing heads/they're busy building toys/and absolutely no one's dead!" And hey, what's more Christmasy than Oogie Boogie?

GremlinsBad Santa: Who knew this one would end up being a classic? An alcoholic mall Santa who robs the joint on Christmas every year, murder and a woman who gets turned on by Santa Claus? Heartwarming. And pretty darn funny.

Gremlins: You forgot this was a Christmas movie, didn't you? Well, if you like a little horror for the holidays, this is the way to go. Plus, it's instructional. It reminds us all to follow directions. If you don't, that bike you spent hours putting together until 3 a.m. will fall apart. Or...you might have a house full of monsters. Same difference.

Die Hard: Return to the days of yore, back when Bruce Willis had hair. Let's face it. No Yuletide celebration is complete without a few gun fights and a little C4 and Alan Rickman -- a true Christmas classic.

Angelina Jolie's new arm tattoo deciphered

After Angelina Jolie showed off her new arm tattoo, many wondered if the actress and Brad Pitt were adopting again. Angelina’s new tattoo has been deciphered -- get all the details here!

Angelina Jolie arm tattoo

Angelina Jolie caused a buzz when she showed off a new arm tattoo that had coordinates, just like the birthplaces of her six children. One source said the coordinates were from Algeria, speculating that perhaps Angelina and Brad Pitt were planning on adopting an Algerian child.

As it turns out, the coordinates are not from Algeria, but from Brad Pitt's birthplace of Oklahoma!

"She got the seventh line right around the time she and Brad moved the kids back to LA," an inside source reveals.

Angelina has decided to agree with Brad's request to settle down in California, but "demanded a permanent commitment -- the tattoo, which signifies family unity."

Joining the last line with the longitude and latitude of Oklahoma, she also has the coordinates of Cambodia for Maddox, Vietnam for Pax, Ethiopia for Zahara, Namibia for Shiloh and two in France for twins Vivienne and Knox.

This is not the first time that Angelina has gotten a tattoo in tribute to a man. She had a Billy Bob tattoo on her left upper arm with a dragon below it for her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton. She had it removed after they divorced in 2002.

"Usually all my tattoos came at good times. A tattoo is something permanent when you've made a self-discovery, or something you've come to a conclusion about," Jolie once said of her affinity for tattoos.

The daughter of actor Billy Bob Thornton has been convicted of manslaughter in the death of a one-year-old girl.

Billy Bob Thornton

Celebs have family drama, too -- and sometimes it's very, very dark. The estranged daughter of actor Billy Bob Thornton has been found guilty of aggravated manslaughter in the 2008 death of a one-year-old girl.

Amanda Brumfield was convicted of killing the daughter of her best friend in Orlando, Florida, while babysitting overnight in October 2008. Brumfield claimed the baby hit her head when attempting to climb out of a playpen. Prosecutors say there's no way a fall from that little height could have caused the child's injuries, including a three-and-a-half inch fracture in her skull and bleeding and swelling of the brain.

The woman was acquitted on first degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges.

Brumfield is Thornton's daughter with his first wife, Melissa Lee Gatlin. He has no children from his uber-creepy marriage to actress Angelina Jolie; despite the fact that she adopted Maddox while the couple was married, she did so as a single mother.

The daughter of Billy Bob Thornton has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Billy Bob Thornton

He played a prison guard in the Academy Award nominated film Monster's Ball opposite Halle Berry, but it is Billy Bob Thornton's daughter who is going to be spending hard time in the big house. Amanda Brumfield has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated manslaughter.

Brumfield, who is estranged from her famous father, was found guilty in the death of her best friend's one-year-old daughter Olivia Madison Garcia, who died while in Brumfield's care.

Brumfield claimed that the tot hit her head while trying to climb out of her playpen, but prosecutors said it was "impossible" for the child to suffer the fatal three-and-a-half inch skull fracture from a fall from such little height. The jury believed their side.

Interestingly, Brumfield was sentenced in the same Orlando, Florida courtroom where Casey Anthony was found not guilty in the murder of her daughter Caylee Anthony in July 2011 .

Billy Bob Thornton has four kids with three different women; Brumfield is his child with ex-wife Melissa Lee Gatlin, to whom he was married from 1978 to 1980. He later married actress Toni Lawrence but the pair separated after just a year. His third wife Cynda Williams was cast in his writing debut One False Move. He had two sons with fourth wife, Playboy model Pietra Dawn Cherniak. A long term relationship with actress Laura Dern ended in 1999 while he was filming Pushing Tin. He later wed his Pushing Tin costar Angelina Jolie in 2000 but split shortly after she adopted her first child.

Whether Christmas has you in a bah-humbug kind of mood, or you're just looking to up your holiday game, here's a look at five holiday movies meant only for those not afraid to work blue.

Not so happy to see that the holidays have come yet again? Hit the rental store, stock up your online queue or snag a ticket -- but be warned, this list of five foul-mouthed Christmas movies is for adults only.

Billy Bob Thornton

1. Bad Santa

Billy Bob Thornton, pictured here just shy of eight years after the release of Bad Santa, may just be the most curse-filled man to ever dare don the revered red suit as Willie T. Stokes. Words of wisdom to live by from Willie? "Why don't you wish in one hand, and s*** in the other. See which one fills up first."

2. Bridget Jones' Diary

It's a tale of "Singletons" versus "Smug Marrieds" as told by the frank and funny Bridget Jones from just over a decade ago. This seasonally timed flick sees our heroine out in a snowstorm clad in "genuinely tiny knickers," as well as making plans for the new year: "Resolution number one: Obviously, will lose twenty pounds. Number two: Will find nice sensible boyfriend and not continue to form romantic attachments to alcoholics, workaholics, peeping-toms, megalomaniacs, emotional f***wits or perverts."

3. The Ref

Long before his days as Tommy from Rescue Me, Denis Leary was a jewelry thief named Gus. In 1994, he ranted, "From now on, the only person who gets to yell is me. Why? Because I have a gun. People with guns get to do whatever they want. Married people without guns — for instance, you — DO NOT get to yell. Why? NO GUNS! No guns, no yelling. See? Simple little equation."

4. Die Hard

May your Christmases be merry, bright and filled with gunfire courtesy of Bruce Willis' 1988 role as officer John McClane in Die Hard. Although filled with enough f-bombs to make your mother reach for a bar of soap, it's a tragedy this insult of McClane's never hit the mainstream: "Let's see you take this under advisement, jerkweed!"

5. A Very Harold & Kumar 3-D Christmas

Looking for something new to add to your adults-only Christmas movie list? Check out A Very Harold & Kumar 3-D Christmas, rated R for "strong crude and sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language, drug use and some violence." Trouble ensues six years after the pair's Guantanamo Bay adventure, as stoner buds Harold Lee and Kumar Patel cause a holiday fracas by inadvertently burning down Harold's father-in-law's prized Christmas tree.

Billy Bob Thornton exploits Angelina Jolie in new movie

Billy Bob Thornton is planning to make a movie out of his short-lived marriage to Angelina Jolie. Should his more famous ex be flattered or litigious?

Billy Bob Thornton

Billy Bob Thornton says that he and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie are still "best friends" -- but that might change after she catches wind of his plans to make a movie out of their creepy romance.

The couple, who were known for such stunts as wearing vials of each other's blood and practically going at it on the red carpet, divorced shortly after Jolie adopted her first son Maddox three years into their marriage. Now Thornton is using the relationship as fodder for his next film project.

"Here's the fact of the matter: Any time you're in a high-profile relationship, you know that that question is going to come up forever. And so if you want the honest-to-God truth, here's the truth: Angelina's a wonderful woman and one of my best friends in the world," Thornton told press at the Berlin Film Festival.

"When people split up, people like to make up stories about how they are against each other. Well, this was never true, it never has been and never will be, and I'll love her until the end of my life and she'll love me -- as friends."

Angelina Jolie's bad girl side belongs to Brad Pitt now>>

But Thornton's movie plans may put the brakes on that friendship. He is currently penning a screenplay tentatively titled And Then We Drove -- a story his producer Alexander Rodnyansky confirmed is based on the Monster's Ball actor's relationship with Jolie.

"I found the story amazing. It's a pretty new combination of genres to put into one movie," said Rodnyansky. "It's based on his personal experiences in many ways."

Thornton explained the film is about "a guy who's on a road trip and picks up this girl along the way, and what happens to them. It's about the question of life: 'What is this? Where do I fit in?'"

He probably doesn't fit into Jolie's iPhone contact list anymore, that's for sure.

Billy Bob Thornton: A hillbilly "Phantom of the Opera"

Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton made headlines as one of Hollywood's weirdest couples. Now, Thornton talks about his time with Jolie -- and how he screwed it all up.

Billy Bob Thornton talks about Angelina Jolie

Actor Billy Bob Thornton is finally admitting what we knew all along: He "blew it" with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. The actor — appearing on Thursday night's Nightline— says he sabotaged the marriage because he didn't feel like he was "good enough for her."

"She has one way she wanted to live her life and I had another way to live mine," Thornton said of Jolie, now engaged to Brad Pitt. "I was just too insecure."

"When you're in a relationship, any two celebrities or whatever, you know, I think that puts on a lot of pressure," the Oscar winner told Nightline. "When Angie and I got married, during that time, I was more famous than she was to start with and then she becomes this big thing, it's hard in these relationships."

The pair married in 2003 and divorced in 2003, right after Jolie adopted first son Maddox. She had intended to raise him with Thornton. They made headlines for their peculiar habit of wearing vials of each other's blood. They also admitted having sex in a limo on the way to the 2000 MTV Movie Awards.

"We had a great marriage and I chickened out because I didn't feel good enough. That's all that happened. It was no big deal, we never hated each other," Thornton said, adding that he felt like a weird Phantom of the Opera-type while married to the superstar. He meant it, too: Jolie wrote the forward to his new book, The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts.

"Some people walk through life able to quiet the voices in their heads. He can't. And I, and everyone else who knows him well, we love him for it," she wrote, according to Life & Style magazine. "I know one thing: The world would certainly be a hell of a lot more dull if that man weren't in it."

The Jolie-Pitt wedding invite list

From Billy Bob to Brad’s mom, who will make the guest list for Brangelina's big day?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Move over, Kate and Wills, there's a new royal wedding in town, courtesy of Hollywood royalty. That's right, Brangelina are finally getting hitched!

Bradhas hinted at a December or January wedding, which means wedding prep is well underway. Of course, we'll be drooling over the pictures of the genetically blessed couple on their day of wedded bliss, but who will get to witness it firsthand?

The Jolie-Pitt brood

Pitt recently told People that his upcoming nuptials will be all about family, which, of course, includes the couple's six children, Maddox , Pax , Zahara , Shiloh , Knox and Vivienne . And don't forget Jacques, the family's adorable bulldog — ring bearer, perhaps?

Angelina's list

Billy Bob Thornton

Billy Bob Thornton

Ex-husbands and new husbands don't typically go together. But we're not exactly talking about your typical couple, either. Billy Bob recently told TMZ he'd be "more than happy" to attend the Jolie-Pitt soiree if he's invited. Perhaps the pair will skip the traditional unity candle and have Billy Bob present Jolie's blood, instead?

Jon Voight

It's no secret that Angelina doesn't exactly have a close relationship with her estranged father. But does that mean he'll be nixed from her wedding? Hopefully she can look past their differences and find a way to include him on her special day, even if he doesn't walk her down the aisle. Somehow, we don't exactly see the independent Jolie being "given away" at her wedding, anyway.

James Haven

Which brings us to Angie's brother. If he is invited, will he be the one to walk her down the aisle? It's hard to say — especially given their rather, uhh, special relationship. Yes, we're referring to that super-awkward kiss on the lips after her Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in Girl, Interrupted. Our advice to the groom: Make sure Haven is kept at a distance, especially when it's time to kiss the bride.

Brad's list

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler

Clooney and Keiblermay not be tying the knot anytime soon, but that doesn't mean they won't be on hand to witness Clooney's BFF as he makes it official. Clooney would certainly make one dapper best man — and you know he'd throw an unforgettable bachelor party!

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

Jennifer Aniston

So you know how most couples have an A-list and B-list? Umm, yeah, let's add Jen to the never, ever, ever list. Jen and Brad split in 2005 amid tabloid rumors of an on-set romance between Angelina and Brad during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Jen has happily moved on, into the arms of fiance and actor Justin Theroux.

Jane Pitt

But not everyone has moved on, necessarily. At issue: Apparently Jane, the Pitt matriarch, was super-tight with Jen, which has caused some rifts in her relationship with Brad's current flame, Angie. Though Jane and Angelina may have clashed in the past, we don't see her invite being revoked just yet. After all, she is the mother of the groom, a mama's boy at heart. But that doesn't make the situation any less awkward. Perhaps she'll agree to show up if her ol' buddy Jen agrees to be her plus one.

Robin Givens

Robin Givens and Mike Tyson

Another ex we don't anticipate making the cut? Robin Givens, Brad's ex-girlfriend from the late '80s. According to Givens' ex-husband, Mike Tyson, he walked in on Robin and Brad gettin' busy while they were still married. Well, they were technically in the midst of ending their three-month marriage, but still... we can only imagine the sheer terror Brad felt when the boxer caught them.

No matter who gets a golden ticket, we can't wait to watch this Hollywood power couple finally tie the knot!

Fargo's Season 2 will return on FX with all-new cast

The two spoke about changes for the upcoming season, including a new cast. Hawley explained the setting will primarily be North Dakota in 1979 and follow a younger Lou Solverson and his now 4-year-old daughter Molly (who was played by Allison Tolman in Season 1).

FX pushes the boundaries with new comedy Married >>

"The time period was really interesting in American history," Hawley said, according to the New York Daily News. "I mean, post-Vietnam, post-Watergate, just before Ronald Regan became president... There was that sense, I think, that this war had come home with people, and the sort of violence and brutality of it. So the idea that perhaps Lou Solverson went to Vietnam and he fought and he came home, and he thought that he had left the war behind, but now he's come back and here it is. It's domestic now."

While Hawley clearly has a vision for the season, losing key characters from Season 1 wasn't easy.

"It was heartbreaking from my standpoint because I loved the characters," Landgraf explained. "But I don't think we felt that we could reincarnate these actors as new characters."

Watch all the shows! 96 New programs landing in 2014-2015 >>

Hawley said he spoke with Tolman and said that, "unless she could channel her 4-year-old self, we weren't going to be able to have her in Season 2, which is a crime and a tragedy and you should be very angry at us for doing that." But Hawley also said that continuing Gus (Colin Hanks) and Molly's story felt "disingenuous."

Landgraf also added that while he thinks the all-star cast of Season 1, including Oscar-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton, was necessary to gain momentum for the show and attract viewers, the writing and title now stand on their own. Fargo earned 18 Emmy nominations this year.

The show will begin production at the beginning of next year. The earliest the season will air is the fall of 2015, though there is no set schedule released for Season 2 as of now.

Are you looking forward to Season 2 of Fargo? Do you think the show now stands on its own?
